Company History

Palmera Destination Services is a tour operator and DMC (Destination Management Company) based in Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic. The company has been operating since 2000 and has grown steadily year after year; specializing in golf travel, groups & incentives and providing high quality services to individual travellers & groups of all sizes.

Who Are We?

In 2005 Palmera Destination Services was bought by Mr. Anders Bogebjerg and Mrs. Rawnie Bogebjerg Hansen. Anders is a former professional golf player and European Junior Champion. He has been working in the travelling industry since 2000 and has been working in the Dominican Republic since 2001 representing Danish travelling agencies. Anders is in charge of our golf department. He speaks English, German, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian.


 

Rawnie Bogebjerg Hansen has a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in international business communications from the University of Southern Denmark. She has been working for a convention center in Denmark, handling the planning of international conventions. During the winters of 2004 and 2005 she was working in the Dominican Republic as sales representative and office manager for other tour operators. Rawnie is in charge of our groups department and communications. She speaks Danish, English and Spanish.


 

In 2007 Mr. Robert Rillema came onboard as our Operations Manager and became responsible for all daily activities including planning of transfers, excursions, hotel reservations, etc. Robert is from Holland, where he used to work for IBM. He came to the Dominican Republic as a diving instructor and has spent more than 5 years in the country. He speaks Dutch, English, Spanish, German and French.


In 2008 Robert was put in charge of our sales department and Ms. Kenia Binicio came onboard as the operations assistant to Robert. Kenia is from the Dominican Republic and has been working in one of the high end hotels, she has been working in operations with another excursion company, and is now in charge of the administration of Palmera. She speaks Spanish and English.


Today Palmera Destination Services proudly represents more than 25 different travelling agencies from Europe, the United States and Latin America, and we handle groups of all sizes from Europe, Canada, the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.

For individual travellers and groups we guarantee the following services:

Personalized Transfers

All airport transfers are always door-to-door and private. We understand that our guests value their time and we make a point of not mixing our guests with people from other travel agencies or people staying at other resorts.
Upon arrival our guests are welcomed at the airport by their personal driver and transported directly to the resort in a comfortable, air-conditioned mini van/bus. Refreshments (beer, soft drinks or water) and snacks can be included on the arrival transfer upon request and at an additional cost.
Upon departure our guests are picked up at the resort and transported directly to the airport in a comfortable, air-conditioned mini van/bus.
Transfers are also available in luxury SUVs – either GMC Yukon XL or Chevrolet Suburban.

Check In at the Resort

Upon arrival at the resort, our guests are met by their personal representative who will assist them with the check-in.

Personal Representative Service

Our guests will receive an informal welcome briefing on the day after their arrival. At the welcome briefing all necessary information about the resort, the area, excursions, golf courses, money exchange, and other general topics will be covered. In case of emergency, our guests will be provided with the phone number of their representative, which is available 24 hours a day.

Hospitality Desk for Groups & Incentives

For groups & incentives we offer complimentary hospitality desk staff daily from 9 am to 12 pm. Our groups will be assigned a personal representative who speaks English and at least one other language (e.g. Spanish, German, Danish, etc.). Our representatives are knowledgeable about the Dominican Republic and will be able to answer questions regarding Punta Cana, the Dominican culture, lifestyle, etc.

Excursions

Palmera offers a wide selection of exciting excursions, which allow our guests to see and experience as much of the Dominican Republic as possible — either by land, sea or air. The excursions that we offer include Monster Truck Safari, Dominican cigars and shopping, helicopter tours, deep sea fishing, snorkelling, catamarans, speedboats, ATVs, zip lines, horseback riding and much more. Private excursions can also be arranged and customized to fit the needs and requirements of our guests.
